New campaign focus on winter precautions on site

The Danish winter has arrived and therefore Femern A/S, in collaboration with the contractors, is now putting a special focus on the safety of the workers during the cold months and the winter precautions on Denmark's largest construction site.

Femern A/S, FLC and FBC have launched the campaign "Get Ready for Winter" addressed to the approximately 1000 workers on the Fehmarn Belt project.

The campaign is part of Femern A/S' safety initiative Target Zero - A State of Mind.

The purpose of the safety campaign is to inform about how they can look after themselves and their colleagues during the winter months, and what precautions the contractors are putting in place. It is to contribute to a high safety level on the construction site and minimising the risk of accidents.

"In order to inform the workers about safety on the site during the winter season, we join forces with the contractors FLC and FBC and various pop-up events will be held on site over the next two months. Here, the workers will watch a film on the subject and get something sweet. In addition to the normal winter PPE, we also hand out neck warmers to the workers, so they can protect them from the cold. The first pop-up events have been held and it was very well received", says Femern A/S' acting Health & Safety Manager Gintaras Vagelas.

At the same time, the contractors are also putting the finishing touches on a number of winter precautions on site, such as snow removal and salting.

Win your national football shirt

The football World Cup fever has also hit the construction site and as part of the safety campaign, workers have the opportunity to win their national football shirt by taking part in a safety quiz.

"Football is currently on top of mind for many people on the project, and the high number of quiz participants says a lot. It is something that many people are passionate about, so we would naturally like to support that", says Gintaras Vagelas.
