Femern A/S launches new website for the work harbours

A new website will assist the many cargo ships calling at the work harbours of the Fehmarnbelt project in Denmark and Germany.

In connection with the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, two work harbours have been established to supply the construction sites on the Danish and German sides and handle the departure of completed tunnel elements in the Fehmarnbelt.

There are specific conditions in the two construction ports, which are among the busiest in Denmark in terms of volume. Therefore, Femern A/S is now launching a new website targeting seafarers who use the ports.

"The work harbours, especially the Danish one, play a key role in the project because they are responsible for the loading of raw materials and the shipment of the completed tunnel elements. As these are entirely new ports for the industry, we want to ensure that seafarers have relevant and up-to-date information available to them when they call at the port," says Christian Paulsen, Marine Operation Manager at Femern A/S.

The new harbour website include requirements for port calls, port layout, and information about the tunnel construction and shipping traffic in the Fehmarnbelt. The website will later include weather information and a webcam, allowing commercial vessels to orient themselves before arrival.

The Danish work harbour is in operation and receives approximately one cargo ship every three days.
