The viewing platform Pilen
Next to the construction site for the Fehmarnbelt tunnel near Rødbyhavn is the new viewing platform called ‘Pilen’ (English: ‘The Arrow’). It is shaped like a pointed ramp that extends 217 metres over a land reclamation area and points towards Germany. The highest point of the ramp is 24 metres above ground level. From here, visitors have a unique view of the entire construction site, the tunnel factory and the surrounding area.
Numerous information boards are located along the ramp, providing information about the tunnel construction, nature and the history of Lolland. There are also two special pairs of binoculars: looking through one pair, the construction of the tunnel is explained in more detail using 3D images. Looking through the other pair, you are taken on a journey back in time to 1644 and learn more about the battle that raged in the Fehmarnbelt at that time.
Pilen is located at the end of Gamle Badevej in Rødbyhavn. Parking is available on site. You can get there by car or bicycle. A nature trail also connects Pilen with the exhibition in Rødbyhavn.
Pilen is open all year round and entry is free. The path from the car park to the tip of Pilen is wheelchair accessible.

The nature trail to Pilen
Sund & Bælt has created a nature trail between the exhibition in Rødbyhavn and the Pilen viewing platform.
The nature trail is 2.2 kilometres long and leads across the former railway tracks in Rødbyhavn, through a forest, past lakes and along the dyke to Pilen.
You can pick up a map of the nature trail with further information at the exhibition in Rødbyhavn. The nature trail is not wheelchair accessible.
Please note that hogweed may be found in some parts of the nature trail. This plant is poisonous if touched and should therefore be avoided. Measures to combat hogweed have already been initiated and will be continued in close consultation with the Danish authorities in the coming years.
