Accident on the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel site in Puttgarden

On 29th of April a worker was involved in a fatal accident.

On Monday, April 29, 2024, at around 2 p.m., a fatal accident occurred at the German tunnel construction site. A 41-year-old Polish construction worker was struck by an excavator shovel and suffered a head injury. The accident took place in the portal area, where drainage work is currently underway.

Emergency services responded immediately, but the injuries were so severe that the man died at the scene. The deceased's family has been notified.

The exact circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation by the relevant German authorities, and the construction companies involved. Following the incident, all employees on site were offered psychological crisis counseling.
