My role has developed with the project. But my work has always been marked by the same ambition and motivation. It is in the Femern A/S DNA – and it creates a workplace with a strong teamwork and solidarity, with both space and possibility to personal and professional development. A huge and complex project as the Femern Tunnel needs a lot of experts. But it also needs competent generalists, who are able to speak a common language and hold on to the project as a whole. This is where I fit in.
I have worked with many aspects of the Femern organisation – from German press handling and public affairs to the work with the German authorities and approval processes, and now project management with a more technical focus. The organisation is constantly developing because the project keeps developing. Therefore, my role has developed as the project has moved forward. Even though I have had many different caps, my work has always been marked by the same ambition and the same motivation.
One thing in particular makes it so motivating to work here: No matter your role, everyone is working towards a common goal – to construct an 18 km long immersed tunnel at the bottom of the Fehmarnbelt, which will strengthen and pull Europe closer together. We are “tunnel visionaries”, and we are part of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe for generations. The culture following such a manifestation is very special. There is an open, international atmosphere with a distinct focus on cooperation. My colleagues are very competent and ambitious, and we all know that we cannot succeed on our own. The project demands that we work together.
When I personally try to make it all add up, another keyword for me is flexibility – and I have very much so found it here. While I live in Berlin with my family, I commute to Copenhagen half of the week. Therefore, it means even more to me that my work is meaningful and the work environment is awesome. And then there is more to life than work. And I have found a place where I feel that I can develop myself in my work and be part of something rather extraordinary – at the same time as I am able to create a good balance between my work, my family life and my spare time.
