The tunnel construction will create jobs

The construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel is the largest infrastructure project in Danish history and will create thousands of new jobs over many years in both Denmark and northern Germany.

Femern A/S is the client for the project, which is being built by the two main contractors, Fehmarn Belt Contractors (FBC) and Femern Link Contractors (FLC). The two consortia are responsible for finding sub-contractors and the necessary teams for the tunnel construction.

There is expected to be a significant labour requirement throughout the construction period. This applies to both the construction and service sectors and will include all types of workers including:

  • Earth and concrete workers
  • Iron and steel workers
  • Machine operators
  • Administrators

The many new jobs at construction sites on the Fehmarnbelt also provide employment for sub-contractors. This is especially true of the craft trades, but the need covers everything from hotel and catering to security, cleaning companies and much more.

We place high demands on the contractors when it comes to the working environment, safety, pay and working conditions and housing.

Our focus
